FanWise DIY
Course Description
Are you intrigued by feather fans and want to know more? This burlesque course is ideal for beginners and peeks into the history of these fanciful props and offers hands-on time to create a fluffy pair of your own, which you’ll learn to flutter with style. This is the perfect course for beginners as an introduction to feather fans.
This 10-week series, taught by Lola LeSoleil, is divided into two 5-week sessions.
The first 5-weeks include discussion and hands-on classwork: Feather fan history from around the world, the evolution of fan dancing as an iconic burlesque style, in-class crafting of ostrich feather fans.
The second 5-weeks gets you moving with your new fan creations! Beginning with strength-building warm-ups, classes cover fan grip, poses, and transitions, which come together in a class fan dance choreography.
Students are expected to provide basic "dance blacks" (black character shoes, black fishnets, black bra, and black shorts).
