Beginner Contemporary Ballet

Class Description

Discover or rediscover ballet in a non-competitive, supportive, and fun environment! This  6-week series is designed for both absolute beginners and experienced dancers seeking to refine their technique and rebuild foundational strength.

The first 45 minutes focuses on ballet technique, terminology, and conditioning the body. We will work through exercises aimed at proper alignment, core strength, leg strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility. The last 15 minutes is for a short contemporary choreography to be learned with different textures and timings applied. Students registered for the 6-Week Series participate in this technique hour, which is also available for drop-in students.

The final 30 minutes is exclusive to registered series students. This dedicated time will focus on building and rehearsing the choreography specifically for the final student showcase.

Progressive students may have the opportunity to perform at the end-of-semester showcase. Students would be required to furnish their own costumes.
