Burlesque Academy Level II: Studio

Instructor: Talloolah Love Tuesdays, 8:45 PM-10:00 PM Semester Dates: 9/20 - 10/25 11/8 - 12/13 Twelve (12) weeks + recital Dress Rehearsal: 1/7/23 Recital: 1/21/23 This intermediate burlesque class is a chorus/ensemble-only series that focuses on cabaret dance and burlesque movement within-group dance routines. It is ideal that you have taken Burlesque I because it lays the foundation in the burlesque vernacular. This dance class introduces musical theatre dance styles from the 1940s to the present. It includes the study of ballet, jazz, and tap techniques to prepare students for performance in musical theatre. Students are expected to provide basic dance blacks - black character shoes, black fishnets, black bra, and black shorts. Student Learning Outcomes: - Evaluate movement skills in terms of space, time, and force, and reproduce accurately through your own body. - Analyze a dance performance in terms of choreography, performance, and theatrical elements. - Demonstrate clarity of intent while applying kinesthetic principles for all dance elements. - Atlanta School of Burlesque instructors will conduct a skill assessment, and those who meet performance criteria will be eligible to perform in CBR Main Stage show. What to bring: - Dance/character shoes or strapped toe shoes with a 2-3-inch heel. - Other acceptable footwear include jazz flats, salsa shoes or barefoot. - Kneepads - Water - Mask Included workshops: - Burlesque History & Ethics - Backstage Etiquette & Professionalism - Burlesque Storyteller - Burlesque Business & Social Media This semester, we are providing a complimentary photoshoot with The Big Red Bow for Burlesque Academy students to help pump up your promo! The photoshoot date is TBA!
