Instructor: Ada Manzhart 12/10 10:00 AM -12:00 PM What we can learn and how we can move forward from the observation of & interaction with others: “Working Without” • Believing What We Are Shown: How noticing the stories that you tell yourself makes you more capable of identifying the stories existing in the minds’ of others. Which leads us to... • Inferiority/Superiority Complexes: common cues, behaviors, dysfunctions and why we shouldn’t take anything personally. • Understanding Social Contracts, Facts, & Coercion: Identifying external coercive powers (i.e. peer pressure/societal backlash), what we owe to one another, and establishing better boundaries. • Making real connections: personal tips in navigating the highs and lows of social egocentricity, how humility and a grounded sense of self-perception creates relatability, common ground, and can open minds and hearts, and practices in better active listening. • Learning not to taking things personally Multiracial trans-masculine performance artist, competitive bodybuilder, and 2022 Retro Lovely Pinup Magazine's 1st Pride Edition cover model, Ada Manzhart aka "The Centerfold Who Will Fold You in Half!" has been performing since 2014, upon graduating from the Atlanta School of Burlesque with the mentorships of Ursula Undress and The Chameleon. Ada's journey into burlesque was born during his academic pursuit of fine arts with a personal focus in Pinup Illustration. Ada's artistic mission as a burlesque entertainer is to open the discussion of the cross-section between gender and sexual expression, the trans experience in burlesque, and what it means to entice, be vulnerable, and truly connect with an audience. As a teacher, they provide their insights, personal practices, and tools for identifying and gracefully navigating the ego-centricity often found in performance art spaces with the intention of creating a more community-focused art form. We are an event venue, community gathering space, and Atlanta, Georgia’s Burlesque & Cabaret House, home to The Atlanta School of Burlesque and the award-winning Candybox Revue burlesque entertainment troupe.
