Class Description

Local femme comics will teach comedy to survivors of domestic violence. The instructors include Valerie Goren and her friends. Comedy is an opportunity to change the power dynamic and lead to healing and contemplation. Harness your voice and own your stories! Bond with other survivors and create artistic expression. A unique, transformational workshop to help you find your voice, and laugh a lot! In this workshop we will learn about the basics of stand up comedy, write jokes and tell them to each other on stage. The jokes do not need to be about domestic violence but will give the opportunity to turn our painful experiences into comedy, which can be very therapeutic. No previous experience needed. This is a 2 .5 hr pay what you can workshop.
