Class Description

Instructors: Minnie Mercury & Obsidian Schedule: Sundays, 4:15 PM - 6:15 PM (8-week series) Dates: June 16 - August 4 Dress Rehearsal: September 7 Student Showcase: September 28 Price: $250 Coming at ‘cha with the hottest team-up since Rodgers & Hammerstein, Obsidian and Minnie Mercury are pairing up to bring to you “Dramatic Songbirds”! This course is a mashup of two current ASB offerings: Sultry Songbirds and Drama Camp and is a musical theatre education experience that you don’t want to miss. Over the 8 weeks, you will learn one (1) musical theatre dancing AND singing routine along with breath techniques for singing, ensemble theatre games, learning the best key for your vocal range, and character development exercises. You do not have to be an experienced singer or dancer to enjoy Dramatic Songbirds; all skill levels are welcome and accepted! So, whether you’re a musical theatre newbie or an established performer, we can promise you there will be a role for everyone! Please be mindful of your attendance. Your attendance each week is essential for the group dance choreography. Each class will be taught on the same day every week for a total of eight (8) weeks. Learning Outcomes: • Learn one (1) choreographed group routine to encompass both singing and dancing. • Receive a skill assessment. Those who meet performance criteria may be eligible to perform in a Candybox Revue burlesque stage show or future student showcase with an instructor. What to Bring: • Dance/Character shoes or strapped-toe shoes with 1–3-inch heel. • Other acceptable footwear includes jazz flats, salsa shoes, or bare feet. • Water • Notebook/Device to take notes on About Us: Drenched 115 years of charm, Metropolitan Studios Arts & Movement Community is an affordable creative space in the heart of Atlanta’s East Atlanta Village; and Atlanta's Burlesque and Cabaret House. Cancellation Policy

You must notify Metropolitan Studios at least 3 hours before class starts, or class will be deducted from your account and considered “used” even though you were not present.
