Class Description

Laughter is the best medicine…and a helluva aphrodisiac. Learn to use comedic techniques by way of a history lesson, improv games, and standup comedy basics to be the sexiest, sassiest, most hilarious version of yourself on the stage.

This 6-week course will help you grow confident in your comedic storytelling abilities and incorporate that into your burlesque performances and beyond!  Comedic timing, the “Rule of Threes”, and the magic of the subversive will all be in the teaching agenda as well as flawless, side-splitting delivery.

Come get silly, seductive, and a little raunchy with us this summer at this new class offered by our resident theatre monger, Minnie Mercury!

Please be mindful of your attendance at all classes. Your attendance is essential for your future development as well as participating in class discussions and giving peer feedback. Each class will be taught on the same day every week for a total of four (4) weeks.

Learning Outcomes

• Understand the history of comedy and its place in the world of burlesque.

• How to best utilize theatrical comedic basics and techniques.

• Learn one (1) choreographed comedic burlesque group routine with the option to perform in a student recital at the end of the semester.

• Clothes you can move in

• Dance/Character shoes or strapped toe shoes with 1-3 inch heel.  Other acceptable footwear includes jazz flats, salsa shoes, or barefeet.
