Class Description

Instructor: Zara Estelle Sundays, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM Semester Dates: 10/1-11/5 11/19-1/7 Off weeks: 11/12, 12/24 & 12/31 Twelve (12) weeks + student showcase Dress Rehearsal: 12/17 Student Showcase: 1/12 & 1/13 Burlesque III is all about expanding our knowledge of choreography. This class is for dancers ready to learn advanced choreography and how to teach choreography to a class. You will not only spice up your dance vocabulary, but you will also prepare to create movement for yourself and others. You will learn: -Different techniques of developing choreographic movements, blocking, and storyline -Various ways to teach and translate the language of movement to your classmates -A group act choreographed by you and your peers under the guidance of Zara Estelle This class is ideal for students from Burlesque I and II who show dance proficiency. Learning Objectives: - New ways of creating organic choreography - Various methods of teaching choreography with counts, sounds, metaphors, etc. - How to convey a message or story - Create a 7-12-minute group act as an ensemble - How to costume for a group Your attendance in all classes is essential for the group dance choreography. You will learn one number that will be choreographed as a group project. Each class will be taught on the same day every week (except the days listed above) for a total of twelve (12) weeks. Included workshops: - Advanced Costume Construction - Deconstructing A Number - Pastie Making - Pics, Reels, and Peels: Digital Media for Burlesque - Production 101: Get Your $hit Together This semester, we are providing a complimentary photoshoot to Burlesque Academy students to help pump up your promo! The photoshoot date is October 14th, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, & November 18th, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM with Blossum Cavessi.
