Class Description

Instructor: Minnie Mercury Sundays, 5:30 PM - 6:45 PM Dates: Four (4) week series 7/20 - 8/10 Refresher Rehearsal: 8/21 7:00 PM - 8:15 PM Dress Rehearsal: 8/8 Student Recital: 8/22 & 8/23 Price: $125 Explore burlesque with our F.A.T. (Fabulous And Talented) instructor Minnie Mercury! Are you curvy, busty, and voluptuous in all the right places? If so, come join us for F.A.T Burlesque! Minnie Mercury will teach you how to shimmy and shake what your momma gave you while teaching you how to dance and move as a larger-bodied performer. You will be surrounded by other bodacious beauties while you learn a sexy, fun choreographed burlesque number. F.A.T Burlesque is specifically created as a safe space for plus-sized dancers to learn, move, and share resources with other plus-size dancers. All levels are welcome, so whether you have been dancing since you could walk or have never done a grapevine a day in your life, you will fit right in! Please be mindful of your attendance at all classes. Your attendance is essential for the group dance choreography. Each class will be taught on the same day every week for a total of four (4) weeks. Learning Outcomes: • Learn one (1) choreographed group routine • Receive a skill assessment. Those who meet performance criteria may be eligible to perform in a Candybox Revue burlesque stage show or future student showcase with an instructor. What to bring: • Dance/character shoes or strapped-toe shoes with a 2–3-inch heel. • Other acceptable footwear includes jazz flats, salsa shoes, or barefoot. • Water About Us: Drenched in over a century of charm, Metropolitan Studios Arts & Movement Community is an affordable creative space in the heart of Atlanta’s East Atlanta Village; and Atlanta's Burlesque and Cabaret House.
