Burlesque II
Class Description

Talloolah Love teaches burlesque with an edge, exploring the deeper facets of dance expression in a group dynamic. Still sexy, still fun, but sometimes thought-provoking, statement-making, or just plain silly! Come prepared to move! Come prepared to think, but most of all, come prepared to dance!

Burlesque II is a chorus/ensemble series that focuses on cabaret dance and burlesque movement within group dance routines and techniques. Students will learn the depth of burlesque storytelling from a place of authenticity.

Students will also have the opportunity to help create their costumes, laying the foundation for the DIY nature of the burlesque industry. Students will learn 2 different choreographed routines, focusing on storytelling and characterization in an ensemble setting.

  • Session 1: A feather fan dance class with a twist! It is recommended that students have taken fan dancing classes with Lola LeSoleil or have had the equivalent previous experience handling fans, executing combos, and creating formations with fellow dancers. We will focus on the students' relationship to the fans and each other.

  • Session 2: It's time to talk about that chair! This is a classic chair course with sass for that supported @$$! Learn to use the chair for formations and as a prop, how to adjust for space, and how to transition seamlessly from chair to floor to standing, all while figuring out how to strip out of a basic costume!

Progressive students may have the opportunity to perform at the end of semester showcase. Students would be required to furnish their own costumes.

Learning Outcomes
